Thorpe Park Half Marathon

2019

On 25th February, Glenn completed the Thorpe Park Half Marathon.

Suffering with ongoing injuries, Glenn was particularly worried about getting to the finish line! During the actual event there were many occasions where he was very close to giving up due to the level of pain. However, he did manage to get round and complete the race with a very impressive time of 1 hour 48 minutes and 21 seconds.

Glenn chose Cardiac Risk in the Young as his charity as this is a cause very close to him and his family. His son, Cosmo, was born in 2012 and appeared to be a normal healthy baby. At only five weeks old, he suffered a cardiac arrest at home. He was helped by the amazing staff at Bristol Children’s Hospital, and pulled through after being given only a 4% chance of survival. He is now living a happy life at home, and his parents know how lucky they are.

His story is detailed on the link below.

Cardiac Risk in the Young

Every week in the UK, 12 families are not so lucky and a young person will die of an undiagnosed cardiac condition. CRY’s mission is to promote heart screening and awareness. Their screening programme includes elite athletes (Premier League footballers, rugby players and Olympic Athletes).

Glenn’s aim is to raise £250. This will pay for an ECG and a follow up consultation for one young person. This could go some way to helping save a life, or manage a long-term condition.
