Previously Cass-Stephens had sponsored various charities with smaller activities over the year, but this was our first real venture into organising a dedicated charity drive for an individual charity.
After consulting our staff, it was decided that we would support the Spring Centre.
As the main challenge, the three Directors, James, Matt and Paul agreed to walk the Gloucestershire Way – A 100 mile path that snakes its way through the country from the border at Chepstow across to Stow on the Wold and back to Tewkesbury.
The route takes in all the major hills in the county and is supposed to take just 8 days!
We did it in one go over the 8 days including carrying all our gear and sleeping overnight in our one-man tents.
Despite various blisters and bruises, we completed the route and managed to raise £4,223.05 for The Spring Centre. This was put towards improving accessibility in their facilities in Quedgeley.
The Spring Centre provides care and support to children and young people with disabilities and their families from across Gloucestershire.
Their services provide opportunities for children, young people and their families to access a tailored programme of activities aimed at improving and enriching quality of life for both the individual child and family unit. Services range from respite care, after school clubs and holiday activities. The Spring Centre also provide specific help and support for parents and siblings through our family sessions, coffee mornings and holistic therapies.
